SHADE CLOTH

Shade cloth is used in a variety of industries to provide protection from the harsh New Zealand sun. It is most commonly used in the horticulture industry as shade for plants in a greenhouse, as well as providing a barrier between young plants and direct sunlight. Our shade cloth comes in both knitted and woven cloth.

Knitted Shade Cloth

is made of a lightweight polyethylene and is resistant from tears, fraying and un-ravelling. The design also makes it less susceptible to wind damage and reduces heat build-up. UV resistant as well as unaffected by most horticultural chemicals. It has a slightly longer life expectancy than woven shade cloth. Allow for 2-3% shrinkage. Common applications include but not limited to shade houses and greenhouses.

Woven Shade Cloth

Is made of 100% polypropylene and allows more heat build-up than knitted shade cloth. Slightly heavier which makes it a little harder to install. It is UV stabilized to withstand the harsh NZ sun and allows next to no shrinkage. Common applications include but not limited to pet kennels, shading for patios and solar protection for plants.
